Chon Kandaris started Help Advocates in 1995 after leaving Utah Legal Services. She saw the continuing need that Carbon and Emery County residents had in applying for and getting Disability Benefits from Social Security. Help Advocates incorporated in 2003. Chon retired in 2006, and her daughter, Cynthia Lowry, took the helm of the company.
Since it’s inception, Help Advocates has helped to bring millions of dollars into the local economy by getting benefits for their clients. This has also helped the State of Utah by re-paying General Assistance benefits from SSI recipients’ past-due benefits, allowing the State to continue helping others in need.
Help Advocates, Inc. has a small staff, and we get to know our clients personally. Kathryn Etzel is the Office Manager. She is the one responsible for handling phone calls, setting appointments, following up on paperwork and medical records, and more. Cindy Lowry is the Claimant’s Representative. She does the initial interview with the potential claimant to determine eligibility, reads all of the records in the file, and travels to hearings to represent claimants before U.S. Administrative Law Judges. We have clients throughout the state of Utah, from St. George and Moab to Salt Lake City and Ogden, and many points in between. We also have clients in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Texas, Ohio and Minnesota.
Help Advocates, Inc. specializes in helping those in need to apply for and receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. We will help from the initial paper work and application through the hearing stage and beyond, if necessary.
Social Security is a complicated process. Eligibility is dependent upon severity of impairment from either physical and/or mental impairment(s), age, education, background, work history, ability to read, write and communicate in English, and in SSI claims, assets and household income.
There are no “up-front” costs to the person filing for Disability benefits. Fees are set by Social Security, not Help Advocates or any other Representative, and are solely dependent on whether the claimant receives “past-due” benefits.
If you believe you are disabled and may qualify for disability benefits from Social Security, please call us to set up an appointment. You may be assured that you will know who is handling your claim and who will be representing you at a hearing if needed.

Radon is a radioactive gas that has no smell, taste, or color. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly all rock and soil. Radon decays into radioactive particles that can be trapped in the lungs when inhaled. These particles release small bursts of energy that damage lung tissue and may lead to lung cancer. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Central Utah homes have some of the highest potential for Radon in the state of Utah.
Why should you get a meth test done on your home before you buy?
Jason and Rhonda Holt purchased a house in Tennessee to start their family. They were soon plagued by mysterious illnesses. Their three babies became pale and lethargic, requiring many trips to the emergency room where they were put on respirators and one received steroids. Rhonda developed headaches, and her husband suffered kidney ailments.
They endured these illnesses for years until they discovered, five years after moving into their house, that it was the location of a former meth lab. The Holts would need to spend more than $30,000 to rid their home of the toxic chemicals that had saturated the house.
In & Out Inspections, LLC has a camera that can inspect a sewer line to ensure it is in proper condition. We have the capabilities that allow you to watch live video of your sewer line and identify any problems or concerns a client might have.

South Eastern Utah Title Insurance Company
A home is the largest investment you will probably ever make. To protect your investment and property rights, an Owner’s Title Insurance Policy is purchased at the time of closing, and is a one time fee that lasts for as long as you or your heirs have an interest in the property. In the State of Utah the seller typically pays for the Owner’s Policy for the buyer.
Once a Real Estate Purchase Contract is accepted, either your Real Estate Agent or Lender will forward the contract on to the Title Company. A State Licensed Title Agent will proceed with a title search at the County Recorder’s Office. The title search involves a review of the land records clear back to the USA ownership, which is typically some time in the 1800’s. Once the search is complete the title professional will then review and exam every single document they found to make sure there is a clean chain of title. The Title Company also searches Court records, and Bankruptcy records, and other offices and websites for information. Many documents are examined at this time such as; deeds, easements, rights of way, coal and oil and gas leases, agreements, mortgages, liens, notices, cc&r’s, tax liens, judgments, divorce decrees, court orders, and many more. It takes the eye of a professional title agent to know what all of these documents mean and how they affect your property. More than 1/3 of all title searches reveal title problems that a title professional fix before you ever go to closing.
If you are purchasing a home your lender will require you to purchase a Lender’s Title Insurance Policy on their behalf to insure their investment in your property is protected. The Lenders Policy does not protect the home buyer only the Lender.
Title Insurance covers against hidden title problems as well such as; fraud, forgery, duress, errors in the public records, missing heirs, unrecorded easements, and many more. With an Owner’s Policy you have peace of mind knowing that your Title Company / and Underwriter will stand behind you, monetarily and with legal defense if needed, in case a claim or title problem should arise against your property.
A Title Company works very closely with your Real Estate Agent Professionals and Lenders to make the closing process of your new home a smooth process.
At South Eastern Utah Title Company (Seutco) we are committed to our customers and clients. Seutco has been in business for over 65 years. Hospice is a program of compassionate, family-centered care. It allows patients with a life-limiting illness or injury to remain at home, in greater control of their lives, surrounded by the people and things that give life meaning and comfort.
Since the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a terminal disease affect everyone in the home. Hospice care serves the entire family, not just the patient. It involves a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to the person’s needs and wishes.
In Aug 2010, The New England Journal of Medicine published an article stating:
“Terminally ill patients who received palliative comfort care services lived nearly three months longer and enjoyed an improved quality of life compared to those who didn’t receive the attention of a palliative care team.”
The benefits of early election are many. Early election allows us to build longer relationships and improve care. When pain and other symptoms are controlled, people feel better, and live longer. Patients and Families become knowledgeable with the dying process, and can achieve peace and comfort with pending death. Time allows experts to prepare funeral and financial planning, being logistically prepared relieves families so they can focus on their loved one when life matters most.
When our loved ones pass, knowing who to contact and what needs to be done can be overwhelming. Symbii has partnered with Final Assistance to take care of this for you. They will make the calls with you on the line in a three-way conference call.
